Background
I'm a software engineer with a background in Computer Science, and I build things for Minecraft Bedrock for a living. Most of my professional work ships on the Minecraft Marketplace. Outside of work I make experimental add-ons, poke at the rendering pipeline, and write about it here.
Growing up, I was always fascinated by technology. It let me talk to my dad while he worked overseas, and it let me play games with my friends. I have always been curious about how things work and how I could make them better.
Around the age of 10 I was introduced to Minecraft. The ability to make anything you want (or, as any 10 year old would, blow up villages) hooked me. Around 12, my middle school introduced me to Scratch, a block-based programming language, and that was it. I knew I wanted to be a game developer. I wanted to make things with technology.
