This is a proof of concept add-on. It was made to showcase the capabilities of the new item dynamic properties introduced in 1.20.60.23
Installing
  • Download the add-on here.
  • Import it to Minecraft Preview. Please note you need to be on version 1.20.60.23 or higher
  • After it's finishing importing, apply it to a current world or make a new one.
  • Enable the BetaAPIs experimental toggle
Usage
  • Go to the creative inventory and search for "Empty Pocket"
    • Since this was a proof of concept I just utilized the blaze rod texture and the stick texture
  • With the "Empty Pocket", right click on an entity. The entity should disappear and your "Empty Pocket" has turned into "Filled Pocket"
  • Right click the "Filled Pocket" on any surface to retrieve the entity again
Issues

Just a reminder that this is a proof of concept. This add-ons is meant to showcase a demo of what can be done with the new Item Dynamic Properties. Unfortunately, due to API limitations, not all entities will be copied over perfectly. Here's a list of entities I tested with that isn't perfect:

  • Villagers
  • Horses
  • Cats
  • Slimes

Due to a Mojang imposed limitation for stability reasons, we are unable to get an entity's inventory so entities with armour or tools will lose them upon spawning
